The Institute for Health Care Ethics (IHCE) was formed to meet the education needs of busy health care professionals who also perform ethics consultations. Ethics consultations are moderated meetings to resolve “values disputes” among patients, family members, or someone from the patient’s care team.

Using a contemporary format, IHCE’s first online course, Effective Ethics Consultation was developed and released. IHCE believes this method of learning can effectively convey the required skills and ethics knowledge skills to receptive learners, it is concise and engaging.

IHCE continues to build more courses with hopes for funding and cooperation to bring students and professionals a full health care ethics library. Future projects may include research and publication. IHCE may seek partnership with other not for profit institutions involved in the education of health care professionals.
